Supplier Excellence Web Site

A Supply Chain supportive improvement

system led by Procurement

As part of the Cross-Functional Supplier Improvement process LVS has initiated a Supplier Excellence initiative contained in the AMPS business needs to form an internal partnership with Procurement, Quality, Operations, Engineering, and CI in order to assure a ‘one voice’ approach to our suppliers, create teamwork with cooperative cross-functional approach, and maintain an action oriented effort.

The Supplier Excellence is the whole process of successfully selecting, developing and improving suppliers by obtaining a partnership with key areas in order to create World-Class Supplier Management system, develop a focus on the effective use of AMPS within our supply base, create a Quality 0-100 (Zero One Hundred) culture within both internal and external supply base, create a pro-active supplier improvement partnership, and meet LVS AOP (Annual Operating Plan) and BSR (Business Strategy Review) commitments.

Value Chain Partnership

Recently ArvinMeritor conducted its sixth ArvinMeritor Performance System for Supplier Excellence where key suppliers were invited to attend the 1.5-day event. During the event it was emphasized that this is not a ‘piece price reduction’ program, but the (free) tools and structure we offer to our key suppliers will assist the supplier’s organization to achieve the goals and commitments we already have, and will help to position them in a better competitive advantage for the future. Although some suppliers may have a similar program in place, or are already meeting ArvinMeritor goals, we still need their participation and involvement in this partnership to support other suppliers to create a Quality 0-100 (Zero One Hundred) culture within both internal and external supply base, and absorb more positive impact by having:

ü  0 PPM

ü  0 Customer complaints

ü  0 Field Actions

ü  100% schedule compliance

ü  100% on time PPAP

ü  100% Launch success

Some of the commitments that we all got during the meeting were:

Ø  Each participant has been requested to communicate this ‘partnership’ and the Supplier Excellence structure to the leaders of the supplier’s organization; and get their commitment to participate.

Ø  Identify the tools needed based on their priorities.

Ø  Identify the right people to attend events / workshops / trainings.

The options we have offered to our suppliers in order to create a ‘Partnership Action Plan’ based on “Pull” basis are:

a) Request copy of the presentation/training material they may need for implementation.

b) Request onsite visit by LVS.

c) Onsite support workshop by LVS.

d) Participate in workshop at LVS facilities.

e) Creation of a “Supplier Forum Workshop.

f)   Support during a Specific Project.

We need to remember that we all are competing in a global market where other suppliers are interested in supplying to ArvinMeritor; and our competitors to our customers.
